NVIDIA RTX PRO 5000 72GB Blackwell workstation graphics card

NVIDIA announced general availability of its RTX PRO 5000 72GB on December 18, positioning the card between the 48GB base model and the flagship RTX PRO 6000. The memory boost targets AI developers and creative professionals whose workflows exceed what 48GB can handle.

The specs are otherwise identical to the 48GB variant: 14,080 CUDA cores, 300W TDP, GDDR7 with ECC support, and PCIe 5.0. NVIDIA claims 2,142 TOPS of AI performance and 3.5x faster image generation versus prior-generation hardware, though these are company-reported benchmarks without independent verification. The memory bus configuration has drawn some scrutiny from spec watchers, as NVIDIA lists a 512-bit interface that doesn't quite align with standard GDDR7 chip configurations for 72GB.

Pricing remains undisclosed. The 48GB model currently sells for around $4,250 to $4,600. One retailer, SHI, has listed the 72GB at $8,489, which would put it uncomfortably close to the RTX PRO 6000's $8,300+ street price. Early partners include Ingram Micro, Leadtek, Unisplendour, and xFusion, with broader availability through system integrators expected in early 2026.

"With 72GB of GPU memory, the RTX PRO 5000 enables us to iterate with higher-resolution scenes and more complex lighting in real time," said Eddy Shen of Versatile Media, a virtual production company testing the card. Standard launch-day enthusiasm, but the use case is clear: local AI model development without cloud dependencies.

The Bottom Line: NVIDIA fills a memory gap in its pro lineup, but the value proposition depends entirely on final pricing that remains unannounced.
