Zhipu AI launched AutoClaw on March 10, a desktop client that packages the open-source OpenClaw agent framework into a single installer for macOS and Windows. Where a standard OpenClaw deployment means cloning repos, wiring up API keys, and configuring skills by hand, AutoClaw collapses all of that into a download-and-run experience. No terminal required.
The client ships with 50-plus pre-built skills covering code generation, content creation, office automation, and financial analysis. Its default model is Pony-Alpha-2, a proprietary fine-tune of Zhipu's GLM-5 architecture built specifically for agent workflows: tool calling, multi-step task decomposition, and long-running execution. Zhipu calls it "deeply optimized for OpenClaw scenarios," though independent benchmarks haven't surfaced yet. AutoGLM browser automation is bundled in too, letting the agent navigate pages, fill forms, and scrape data without human input.
The local-first angle is the real pitch. Rivals like ByteDance's ArkClaw and Tencent's cloud offerings route everything through remote servers. AutoClaw keeps data on-device, with no public network exposure or open ports, per Zhipu's head of AutoGLM, Liu Xiao. Users get free credits to start and can swap in third-party models from DeepSeek, Kimi, or MiniMax if they prefer.
Zhipu's Hong Kong-listed shares closed 13% higher on announcement day. The company has gained over 300% since its January listing and carries a market cap north of HKD 300 billion. AutoClaw is available now at autoglm.zhipuai.cn/autoclaw, with the Pony-Alpha-2 model still in beta.
Bottom Line
AutoClaw bundles 50-plus skills and a GLM-5-based agent model into a one-click local OpenClaw installer, available now on macOS and Windows.
