Google's Gemini can now handle tasks on autopilot. The company rolled out Scheduled Actions, a feature that lets users set one-time or recurring prompts tied to specific times and conditions. Think daily email digests, weekly blog ideas, or a morning calendar rundown, all generated without reopening the app. Google announced the feature on its product blog in early June 2025.

Setup is simple: describe what you want and when in natural language. Gemini confirms a summary plan before anything runs. Results show up in the chat thread on web or as push notifications on mobile. The support page notes that location-dependent requests lock to the coordinates captured at creation time, which is worth knowing if you travel. You can pause, edit, or delete actions from a dedicated settings panel without losing your history.

The catch: it's paywalled. Only Google AI Pro, Ultra, and qualifying Workspace accounts get access. Free-tier users are out. There's also a hard cap of 10 active actions per account, and the feature requires activity history to be turned on. Google hasn't said whether those limits will loosen.

OpenAI shipped a comparable scheduling feature for ChatGPT earlier in 2025. The difference is ecosystem depth: Gemini plugs directly into Gmail, Calendar, and Docs, which makes its summaries more contextual if you already live inside Google's tools. Whether that advantage matters depends entirely on where your data sits.

Bottom Line

Gemini's scheduled actions cap at 10 per account and require a paid Pro, Ultra, or Workspace plan to use.
