Remotion released Agent Skills this week, a toolset that lets AI coding assistants write and generate video animations from plain English instructions. The skill integrates with Claude Code, Cursor, and other agents through a single install command: npx skills add remotion-dev/skills.

The release landed alongside Vercel's broader skills.sh ecosystem launch on January 21. Remotion's skill has accumulated over 3,600 installs according to the skills.sh registry, making it one of the more popular third-party skills on the new platform. The GitHub repo includes documentation for 3D content, animations, captions, audio handling, and chart visualizations.

Jonny Burger, Remotion's creator, posted a demo video made entirely by prompting Claude Code with the new skill. The announcement video reportedly hit 147,000 views within hours, per one observer tracking the launch.

The underlying approach isn't new. Remotion has allowed developers to build videos programmatically in React since 2021. What's changed is the friction: instead of writing TypeScript by hand, developers can describe what they want and let Claude generate the code. One early adopter documented building a product video in 2 hours and 191 exchanges with Claude Code, refining animations through conversational feedback like "make it bigger" and "a little longer."

The Bottom Line: Remotion's Agent Skills package removes the TypeScript barrier for programmatic video, though the output quality still depends on how well you can describe what you want.
