Perplexity rolled out Computer for Professional Finance this week, an analyst-focused version of its agentic Computer product. The company's launch post calls it the "beginning" of a finance-specific offering, with licensed data from Morningstar, PitchBook, Daloopa, and Carbon Arc pulled into the agent.
The pitch is bring-your-own-license. Analysts plug existing data subscriptions into Computer rather than paying for a closed bundle.
Computer can generate tearsheets, annotated stock charts, and equity research comparisons, with each figure linking back to its source filing or transcript, per the post. A native Excel side panel lets analysts query the agent without leaving their model. The company also ships 35 prebuilt workflows for tasks analysts repeat weekly, like company briefs and screening runs, according to its X announcement.
Integrated tools include screeners, calculators, watchlists, and earnings trackers, per the finance product page. None of those capabilities have been independently benchmarked.
Anthropic unveiled its own ten finance agents in Manhattan around the same window, with FactSet shares falling roughly 8% on the day per WirtschaftsWoche coverage. Perplexity hasn't disclosed standalone pricing for the finance tier or named launch customers.
Bottom Line
Perplexity is betting analysts will plug their existing Morningstar and PitchBook seats into a Computer agent rather than buy a sealed terminal.
