xAI has launched grok-voice-think-fast-1.0, a new flagship voice model aimed at multi-step workflows like customer support, phone sales, and appointment booking. The company announced the release Friday.
According to xAI, the model takes the top spot on the τ-voice Bench leaderboard, which scores full-duplex voice agents on noise, accents, interruptions, and turn-taking. That ranking is self-reported.
Starlink helped develop it. The SpaceX satellite unit has been piloting the model for customer support calls, which means it was trained against telephony audio, background noise, and heavy accents. The kind of conditions that usually trip up voice agents.
Pricing for the new model wasn't disclosed in the announcement. xAI's existing Grok Voice Agent API runs at a flat $0.05 per minute of audio duration, which the company positions as roughly half of competitor rates.
Developers can access the model through xAI's realtime WebSocket API. The voice docs show configurable voices and tool-calling support, including web search. Independent benchmarks from third parties haven't landed yet.
Bottom Line
xAI is pitching grok-voice-think-fast-1.0 at enterprise voice deployments where its existing Voice Agent API charges $0.05 per minute of audio.
