Anthropic launched Claude Design on Friday, a research-preview tool that turns text prompts into prototypes, slide decks, one-pagers, and marketing collateral. The product runs on Opus 4.7, which Anthropic bills as its most capable vision model. Access is included for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, with a gradual rollout through the day.

Users describe what they want, Claude drafts a first version, and edits happen through inline comments, conversation, or custom sliders the model generates for specific visual elements. During onboarding, Claude reads a team's codebase and design files to build an internal design system, then applies brand colors, typography, and components to future projects automatically. Exports go to PDF, PPTX, HTML, or Canva.

That Canva export is the part worth squinting at. Anthropic told TechCrunch the product complements Canva rather than competing with it, and Canva CEO Melanie Perkins appears in the announcement endorsing the integration. But Claude Design shipped the same week Canva AI 2.0 entered research preview and Adobe previewed its Firefly AI Assistant. The feature overlap (pitch decks, landing pages, social assets, prototyping) is hard to miss.

Customer numbers are company-picked. Brilliant claims a complex interactive page that previously took more than 20 prompts to recreate elsewhere now takes two in Claude Design. Datadog says a week of briefs and review rounds now collapses into one conversation. Neither figure has been independently benchmarked.

Claude Design is off by default for Enterprise customers and requires admin activation. Anthropic says broader third-party integrations arrive over the coming weeks.

Bottom Line

Anthropic's latest Labs product ships to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers the same week Adobe and Canva previewed their own agentic design tools.
