Anthropic bumped Claude Code's weekly usage caps by 50% on Tuesday, in a brief post on X. The lift runs only through July 13 at 6PM PDT, applies to every paid plan (Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise), and works wherever Claude Code runs: CLI, IDE extensions, the desktop app, and the web. Nothing to enable. New ceilings are already on user accounts.
The bump is more useful than it sounds because it stacks. Last week's earlier change doubled the 5-hour session limits and killed peak-hour throttling for Pro and Max. Combined, paid subscribers get roughly 2x short-window quota and 1.5x the weekly cap for the next two months, at the same price.
Anthropic did not publish absolute token numbers for any plan, consistent with its practice of keeping flat-rate limits relative rather than absolute. "50% more" is calibrated against ceilings the company has never disclosed. Usage shows up where it always did: the /usage command in the CLI, the IDE status bar, and account settings.
The timing is not subtle. The same day, OpenAI offered two free months of Codex to enterprise customers willing to switch. Developers have been vocal lately about Claude Code burning through weekly caps faster than Codex on equivalent agentic workflows.
What happens on July 14 is unclear. Anthropic has not said whether the new ceilings stay, revert, or land somewhere in between.
